The first ever Hyde County Relay for life is set to take place on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20 at Davis Ventures, located on U.S. 264 in Engelhard.

The event begins with the ceremonial survivors' walk, where cancer survivors take the intital lap around the track to kick off the all-night walk to raise funds for a cure for cancer. As they walk, names of survivors, along with inspirational stories will be read. Survivors will be treated to a cook-out following the maiden walk around the track.

Following the survivor walk, volunteers and community members will fall in to begin a walk for a cure. As the sun goes down on Friday, luminary bags bearing names of those who fought the battle with cancer will light up the track. As part of the sunset ceremony, names will be read - honoring those who survived and remembering those who lost the fight.

Please join Max Radio of the Carolinas, Beach 104 and Water Country 94.5 WCMS, in supporting Hyde's first ever Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. We're sending our very own husband and wife team, ``Trixie'' from Water Country and Lord Byron from Beach 104 to help fight the fight in Hyde County.

We still need all the help we can get to make this milestone event as successful as possible. You can support the event by purchasing a luminary, pledging a donation or sending a team to walk for the cure.
